Show and Tell Tuesday: A Little Bit About Myself

Today I am linking up with Andrea at Momfessionals to share a little about myself and share New Year's Resolutions.

Hi! My name is Heather, I'm 40-years-old, and I've been blogging off and on since 2008.  The blog has always been a way to document our life, and I love looking back at posts from when my kids were tiny.

My husband, Eric, and I have been married for 12 years.  It will be 13 years in April.  We met on Match.com back when online dating was a little edgy and scary!

I've been a Catholic school teacher for 16 years, I'm also the Vice Principal at my school.  My classroom is the door on the left.  Home away from home.

We live in Clovis, CA which is pretty much right in the middle of California right next to Fresno.  It's a pretty big city, but the downtown is still small and quaint.

Our son, Evan, was born in 2004.  He's 11 and he loves taking pictures with his weird mom!   Evan is extremely athletic and has been playing on a travel soccer team (Pumas) since he was in 2nd grade.

Our second son, Hudson, arrived in 2007.  He is willing to take a photo with me 99 percent of the time.  Hudson is also very athletic and also does travel soccer.  And the kid never just walks.  He skips, runs, trots, and throws a little spin in for good measure.  Walking through a mall with him is pure torture!

My new favorite family photo taken this past Christmas Eve.

The blog was named after our two monkeys.  When Evan was little we called him Peanut.  Hudson's nickname was Chicken.  Those nicknames aren't really used much anymore!

When we aren't chasing after the kids at soccer (think practice, games, travel...it's all very glamorous!), Eric and I like to work on being healthier versions of ourselves.  Eric underwent gastric surgery last April to lose weight.  After being overweight for most of his life, he is experiencing life in a whole new way.  I chronicled the experience as the wife on the sidelines.  You can check out the posts in the tab at the top.

I have gotten healthier right along with Eric, losing 35 pounds and getting back to running.

This is pretty much how I look after a run.  I'm training for two half marathons in February.  I don't completely love running, but I sure love how it makes me feel when I'm done.

Other random things about me are that I love to read, I can binge watch a Netflix show like nobody's business (my current watch is One Tree Hill...where I was when the show was actually on tv I have no idea), I have a major sweet tooth but gave up candy last April, and I love my children but was horrible at being pregnant.  I am also the whiniest sick person ever.  Oh, and I love pizza and steak and hate mushrooms.

For the second half of this post, we are to share our New Year's Resolutions.  I wrote a post a few days ago that was more of a GIANT list of things in my life I'd like to do, work on, or accomplish.  If interested, you can read that HERE.

Out of that list, some of the items that are a bit more important to me are the following:

-Read the Bible in one year.  I found a website and have read every day.  I'm planning on using this in my classroom as well.

-Drink 80 ounces of water each day.  I'm a soda addict and need to cut that habit and replace it with water.  I am great at this on some days.  I dismally fail on others.

-Make bed each day, swipe down bathrooms each day, and never leave dirty dishes in sink overnight.

-Read at least 10 pages of a self improvement book each day.

-Pay off at least half of my student loan.  My husband and I are HUGE Dave Ramsey fans and are on the last item to pay off in Baby Step 2.  Can't wait to move on to Baby Step 3.

Thanks for reading my page!  I am looking forward to checking out all the posts today!
