Teacher Appreciation Day Tuesday

This is Teacher Appreciation Week at our school.  Yesterday teachers got flowers, today we get lunch from the Parent Club, tomorrow we create fun lunches for each other, and cards and prayers round out the week.

As you can see from my desk, I have a bit of work to do.  This morning's project was ordering Subway sandwiches for the 8th grade retreat lunch tomorrow and ordering end of the year field trip permission slips.  By the way, I LOVE the little angel ornament that hangs from my file box on the wall.  She is holding a book that says math!  That is the BEST ornament ever!

I randomly took some other photos.  This is my view out my office door into the main office at school.  AJ was busy making copies for kindergarten kids.  AJ and I joke about his bright and vivid wardrobe.  This is about as bright as he gets!

The view of the work piles on the other side of my desk.  Must decorate.  I have dreams of it being a beautiful work space someday.  Right now all I have is a random football shot of Evan.  Granted, he made a touchdown in that photo, but it isn't exactly "office worthy" stuck on the wall like it is!  Summer project?  Office beautification is on!

Yesterday I got a few flowers, and today I was surprised with Sweet Tarts and Almond Rocha.  I also have a small obsession with Post It Notes.  They are everywhere helping me stay somewhat organized, even if it is just an illusion.

The Parent Club provided us with delicious sandwiches, chips, and salads.  Yum!

And we got ADORABLE blinged up cups!  Yay!

Coach Washington and I share an office.  He LOVES sharing an office with disorganized me! Heh!  Poor man has seen me angry, sad and crying, obnoxiously happy, silent, singing, and all emotions and antics in between.  He is rather mild mannered and sits at his desk and lets me do my thing.  Great office partner!

The day isn't even half over and it has been action filled!  Now, if I could JUST GET 8TH GRADERS TO LISTEN!  They are mentally done with me, but I still need them to do a few things like write letters to their parents and Father Robert for graduation.

Lucky for all of us they have their retreat with Fr. Robert tomorrow.  Maybe they'll come back Thursday with tons of motivation to finish out the year.  And maybe pigs will fly.  There is always bribery and threats to get stuff done!

What the....?

These photos make me giggle!

Don't anybody faint away, but I got up a little earlier than usual and made my bed this morning.  As I told Eric, it is harder to get back in it if it is already made!  I've got a bit of spring cleaning fever going on, and I must take advantage of it while it lasts!

In any case, two beings that were not too happy were Harry and Bandit.  They were jumping out of the way as I pulled the sheet and comforter up to the top.  Out of desperation for warmth, Harry burrowed his way under and in between Eric's pillows!

That view of Harry greeted Eric when he stepped out of the shower!  Harry looks like he would be cussing me out if he could talk.

I felt bad for Bandit because he was cold.  I threw his blanket up on the bed for him to enjoy.  It was a pretty funny start to the day!

Easy Dinner

After a pretty full day of grocery shopping, Mass, 10th Anniversary party for Fr. Robert, and more errands, this dinner is perfect to end the day.

My salad included: leftover grilled chicken, cucumber, tomato, onion, red pepper, green pepper, cashews, blue cheese, pepper, olive oil and vinegar.

Silly children had Mac N Cheese.

Productive Saturday

Yesterday was nice.  I felt like we got a substantial amount of "to-do" items crossed off our list.

Eric and I enjoyed a "bit" of wine the night before, so it was nice to be able to sleep in without anywhere to go.  No soccer, no event, nothing.

We got up and started cleaning the house.  The kitchen and family room look MUCH better.  We relaxed a bit, watched tv and ran errands.

Knowing that we'll be going to a funeral in the next 2-3 weeks, but not knowing exactly when, I am trying to get as much done as possible for upcoming events like the end of school, graduation, teacher appreciation day, parties, etc.  I bought supplies for the 8th grade retreat on Wednesday.  I bought the table setting for the teacher lunch day.  I bought the gift to make for Father Robert's 10th anniversary celebration.  I bought several graduation gifts.

We got through the laundry.  I just need to get it all folded and put away, but that should happen today.

Finally, we went to the OLPH Neon Fun Run and then had dinner at the Spaghetti Factory with a giftcard we found!  It was like finding money in your winter coat pocket!  I think the meal tasted better than usual!

First stop of the afternoon was Costco for water and an early Father's Day present for Eric.  This photo was taken after Hudson dumped an entire cup of Pepsi onto the floor because he was trying to break his hot dog in half.  Eric is busy adjusting his watch.  The sucker weighs 11 ounces!  It is heavy!

I tried to take a photo of Evan, but he threw his hand up and bumped my phone.  Here is a lovely shot of the corner of the Costco picnic table.

We headed to SJM for the OLPH Fun Run.  Besides jogging the track, there was a rock wall, a slingshot bouncy thing, sack races, Little Gym stuff, and strong guys doing a monkey bar routine.

It turned out to be a really nice evening weather wise, but Eric and I still hid out in our amazingly easy pop up tent until the sun disappeared!

Evan nearing the top of the rock wall.

Hudson making his way up the wall.

Almost there!

He looks like a tarsier (monkey from the Philippines that 1st grade studied)!

The wall turned out to be a huge hit, and both boys climbed it several times.

Made it!

Eric and I emerged from our tent to walk a lap when it was the first grade run time.  Hudson lapped us.  He's fast!

Look at that form!  Go, Hudson, go!  He was first place, but I don't think they got awards or anything.  I should have gotten one for slowest walker.  But I did dance as I walked!

We also walked a lap when it was the fourth grade run time.  Here comes Evan around the track.  He lapped us twice.  He, also, was the fastest of his group.

Evan ended up running 3/4 of a mile.  Hudson ran a 1/2 mile.  Strong and amazing kids!

Dinner was great, and then we came home, snuggled with the kids in our bed, watched an episode of The Black List, and fell asleep.  I love these types of Saturdays.

Welcome to Ireland!

Tonight is Open House.

At my school our Open House has a multicultural theme.  Each class studies a different country and kids walk around with "passports" to get their stamps in each country.  They turn them in for a free dress day.

The 8th graders studied Ireland.  We offered green food and funny looking shamrocks hanging from the ceiling along with our science projects, historical figure projects, and Civil War studies.

At least my classroom looks festive.  I've finally gotten used to being across the street from the main campus in our little corner of the world.  It's kind of cozy over here!

Monday Blues

It's hard getting back into the regular routine after being gone with the 8th graders on a two day field trip and then taking Friday off to sleep in until 1 p.m.

Hard life, I know.

I didn't want to grocery shop, cook, or look at papers to correct.

Instead I hung out at Evan's soccer practice, we went to Red Robin for dinner, and I grabbed a few necessary items at Walmart.

And now I'm snuggling with this little monkey who needs to go to bed.

That kid is a grump.  He was mad because Dad put the dog on his head.  The rest of us thought it was pretty funny!

Busy Day

Up early.  Evan and Eric off to soccer.  Hudson and I off to First Communion.

Attended luncheon for Faith.

Went home, finished packing, and took off for Stockton to stay with Aunt Lisa and Uncle Jimmy for the night.

Need to be up early to get to Manteca for a soccer play date.  Busy all the time.
