It's Been a Minute

Goodness gracious it's been a minute since I've posted. I went down a bit of a nostalgic rabbit hole because I had to look up the anniversary of my dad's death. I refuse to put that particular date into my memory. I can remember MANY other dates, but I block that one out. However, I knew I had blogged about my dad. I logged into the blog...and rabbit hole.

Quite a bit has changed since 2018! I'll keep this first return post brief. It's mostly for my benefit anyhow!

Eric and I will be married for 21 years in April. He's put up with me for nearly 22 years altogether! The picture was taken right before he joined me in a 5K run at Woodward Park. I am fast and loose with the term run! He might not want to run with me, but he'll always attend and support me.

Here's the update on the family.

Eric
He just turned 55 this past Thanksgiving. He is the IT Director for the City of Hanford with two employees working for him. He recently had shoulder surgery and just finished several months of physical therapy. He drives a giant truck that is loud. He loves it. He enjoys car shows on tv, relaxing, and his girls (Boxers Ginger and Luna). He is the glue that holds our family together and is always taking care of all of us.

Heather
I stopped working at OLPH after the 2019-2020 school year and took over as principal during Covid for St. Joachim School in Madera. It is surreal to be back in the town where I once lived and worked. I work with amazing staff and get to lead an amazing group of kids. The parent support is fantastic, and it is an adventure each day. It's the hardest job I've ever done, but also the best. I still read like crazy (131 books in 2023), I still journal, and I still worry about everything! I also polish my nails, love bubble baths, and am trying to make this last year of my 40s the healthiest yet. I'm on a bit of a quest to improve my overall health and wellness.

Our boys have GROWN! This photo was taken in Mazatlan on our family cruise this past December.

Evan - pictured in the Nike shirt.

Evan is now 19 and in his second year of college. He is studying business/finance. He works at an aquatic pet store, goes to school, works out, and hangs out with his friends or his girlfriend of three years, Mia (pictured next to him).

Hudson - Pictured in the grey shirt.

Hudson is 16 and a junior in high school. He drives, works out, gets good grades, and also works at the pet store. Hudson always has some place to be whether it is the gym, school, hanging with friends, or going to Cane's for food.

I really do not understand how my babies got so big and grown and mature. They are both just the most awesome sons anyone could ask for. Eric and I joke that we have two roommates now instead of sons because they have individually very busy lives that don't revolve around us anymore. I am so proud of them.

That was the condensed version of life in the past five years. Maybe I'll continue to blog more posts. I'd like to. It's fun to look back at how our lives evolved. It's fun to reminisce. It's good to be back.
